Pavilion

The Garden is excited to announce that our new 40'x70' open air structure, called the Garden Marquee, is now available for rental events. The Garden Marquee features a concrete floor (no more grass and mud!), overhead lights, ceiling fans, and power plugs for things like bands/DJ’s and accent lights. Please note that you will need to rent tables and chairs from a local rental company for use in the Marquee. The estimated maximum table layout will be 23 5’ round tables with 8 chairs at each (184 seats).

Please review our Private Rentals Quick Facts for more detailed information about renting the pavilion, including pricing. Rental rates vary depending on the length of rental (four or eight hour rentals), amount of people, day of the week, and if you will be renting a tent.

Please email our Events Team to verify date availability hahngardenrentals@vt.edu

Please note that Event Insurance is required for all events not related to Virginia Tech.

All rental revenue goes directly into the garden’s daily operations fund. The money is used to purchase plants, materials, and equipment and pays for our hard-working student workers. Renting our facility helps keep the Garden growing and beautiful!

Important notes:

  • Most private events are not required to have an ABC permit to serve alcoholic beverages, but the unversity reserves the right to request one when reviewing/approving events. However, any caterer working on campus must obtain an ABC permit to serve alcoholic beverages (many local caterers already have the license).
  • Campus regulations require a tent permit 30 days before the event through VT Facilities for tents larger than 900 sq ft. We can take care of this for you.
  • Event insurance is required for all weddings as well as any groups not affiliated with VT.
  • We are unable to restrict garden access to classes, students, and the general public who may be passing through the gardens. Our experience has been that students and visitors have been very respectful of special events.
  • While we try to alert people to possible university and community conflicts that will increase traffic to the garden it is ultimately your responsibility to check before booking. Events that might increase garden traffic include high school prom and homecoming dances, university graduations, university athletic events, and more. We recommend avoiding dates when there is a large event on campus. Please visit the University Calendar web site http://www.calendar.vt.edu for information on campus events. We have no control over campus events outside of the garden. It is your responsibility to be sure there is not a large event taking place at the university or the surround communities on your chosen date.
